Alternative fashion on the cheap!

Let’s face it: if you want to try out some serious alternative fashion, particularly Victorian goth and lolita, you’re going to spend a pretty penny for sure. But some of us are on a pretty right budget, right? Does that sound like you? Well, here are some tips to help everyone have at least some alternative fashion in their closet.

Finding It Cheap No matter how poor you are!

  • Keep in mind: some fashions are easier than others. The more mainstream something is, the cheaper it’ll be. I would think punk is easiest.
  • Shop around. There are some simple dresses out there very cheap.
  • Not all alternative fashion has to come from an alternative fashion company. I’ve gotten odds and ends from places like Target, Walmart, and the mall.
  • Even ridiculously expensive companies like Heavy Red have clearance racks.
  • If you’re going to order several things on the internet from the same place, do it all at once if you can. In most cases this is the best way to avoid split-shipping and split-shipping fees.
  • Two words: Ebay, Amazon.
  • Summer fashions are usually going to run cheaper than wintry fashions due to lighter fabrics and, well, less fabric. You can always visit the season conversion page if you want to make it last year round.

Making Some Extra Money Completely broke? Maybe these tips can help you get a little extra money in your pocket.

  • Captain Obvious says: GET A JOB.
  • Can’t find a job, not allowed to have a job, or too young? Mow lawns, clean houses, baby sit, shovel snow, walk dogs, wash dogs, and wash cars.
  • Get a change jar and collect all of your change in there.
  • Find a penny? Pick it up. Yes, even the pennies.
  • Regularly check change-hotspots such as between couch cushions and your laundry room.
  • Wasting a lot on gas? Aren’t we all. Carpool.
  • Got a blog that attracts a lot of traffic? Make use of google adsense!
  • Make use of talents. Good writer? Write custom poems, speeches, wedding vows, or essays for the school age and cash in. Artistic? Draw for people or offer lessons. Smart? Tutor. Good sewer? Make some clothes or fix some clothes for other people. Tech-savy? Fix stuff and refill ink cartridges. Strong? Help move furniture. The list goes on and on.
